Day 2 – Burlington – getting organised

Gaz was up at 6.30 to head in to work with Malcolm. They had three of his classes today for Garry to meet. The kids were giving him a hard time about his accent. He kept telling them he didn’t have one. They said “but when you say water, you say ‘warder’. One of the other kids said to him “don’t you ever change, your accent is awesome”. I think he will have fun with them.
The kids and I got to sleep in until Debora picked us up for our appointment with the district school board. Nancy was fantastic and already had most of the paperwork done. We then went and joined the library. The kids can now go and use the Internet, select DVDs and of course borrow books.
Our next trip was to Value Village for some warmer clothes. This is a second hand chain store. It’s huge. Found just about everything we need, especially as we are going to Quebec City next weekend and it’s much further north.
Visited the bank and made an appointment to open an account at 7.30 pm tomorrow night. They are open long hours and have drive through ATMs.
Visited the kids’ schools to enrol them. Adam starts next Friday and is enrolled in science, maths, art and gym. We will return to the school next week to pick up his timetable and have a look around. Lachlan and Olivia could have started this afternoon if they wanted. For some reason, they weren’t keen. Will probably start them next Tuesday or Wednesday.
Arrived back at motel exhausted. Debora has been fantastic taking care of us for the whole day. It would have taken me a lot longer on my own.
Gaz arrived not long after us with a new car. We have it on loan for the night to test it out. It’s a bronze Pontiac Montana. A seven seater which will be great when we have visitors and give the kids plenty of space on long trips. Took the kids out for pizza and a hot chocolate at Tim Hortons which is a popular coffee chain. Driving on the other side of the road is going to take a lot if concentration to start with.
Skyped with Sharon when we got back. It was nice to feel a bit of home comfort.
Settling in to watch the Australian open now. Canadian girl still in it.
Good night beautiful people. Jxx
